About Our Pastor

Pastor Garry Martin is an Ordained Senior Pastor at Jackson First Assembly of God Church in Jackson, Tn.  He serves as Assistant Presbyter in the Jackson Section. Pastor Martin is also a ministry contractor with the Church Ministries Dept. of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.  He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, moving to Sunbright, Tennessee during his teenage years. He received his call to ministry 1980, while attending Rockwood United Pentecostal Church.  He began his ministerial career in 1988 as an Associate Pastor.  In 1995, he transitioned into a Senior Pastor position and has served in that capacity in three churches in Tennessee.  Pastor Martin has had the privilege to be involved with many areas of service which include Assemblies of God Pastoral Care, Assemblies of God Missions, Board member of Women of Hope Advisory Committee, Executive Board member of Cornerstone Ministry Association/Michigan, Cry Out America, Co-Chair of PCCNA/Memphis, Teen Challenge Executive Board Member, Coordinator for Memphis March for Jesus USA, JFA Compassion Ministry, and more.    He is married to Kathy Martin, also an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. He has two daughters, Mallory and Lindsey, and three grandchildren.  He loves to fish, for both fish and the souls of men! Pastor Martin has a unique sence of humor and he applies it in ministry. He is a people person and is quick to make a friend. Pastor Martin will tell you that life is way to short not to enjoy and live to your fullest. He will also tell you that without Jesus a person can not truly know the meaning of real joy.

Co-Pastor Kathy Martin is currently an Ordained Minister at Jackson First Assembly of God Church in Jackson, Tn.  She serves as Worship Leader and Women's Ministry Director, as well.  She grew up in Fulton, Ky.  In 2000, she began serving in various ministerial roles.  Once ordained, she became co-pastor, serving under her husband, Garry, at Jackson First Assembly.  She hosted The Power in Prayer radio broadcast in the Jackson area for approximately 3 years. She was involved in the JFA Compassion Ministry, has served on the board of Women of Hope Advisory Committee, Executive Board Member of Cornerstone Ministry Association/Michigan, and works in the church office at JFA. Mrs. Martin loves to be involved in creative ventures and engages her artistry within her small Christian based business.
